The Village of Crestline Utility Office is responsible for administering the billing, collection and enforcement policies of the Village of Crestline Water and Wastewater Utilities. 

Water and sewer accounts can be paid for in person at the Utility Collections Office, by mail, or by electronic funds transfer through a customer’s bank.

Water and sewer accounts are billed monthly the greater of, the actual water that passes through the meter, or a minimum service fee if there is no usage.

Any water leak, no matter how large or small, can increase your monthly bill. The most common undetected leak is a running toilet. If you discover a leak or notice a substantial increase in your monthly bill, contact our utilities department at (419) 683-3800 and they will be glad to assist you. The Village of Crestline does not offer pool fill credits on utility bills.

We are once again pleased to present our annual water quality report covering all testing performed between January 1 and December 31, 2023. Over the years, we have dedicated ourselves to producing drinking water that meets all state and federal standards. We continually strive to adopt new methods for delivering the best quality drinking water to you. As new challenges to drinking water safety emerge, we remain dedicated to meeting the goals of source water protection, water conservation, and community education while continuing to serve the needs of all our water users.

During times of increased flow through the distribution system, iron deposits get dislodged. Those deposits are the cause of the discoloration in your water. The increased flow occurs during normal hydrant flushing operations or because of a break in a main service line.

We care about you and the quality of water provided to you. Our Service Department Team will flush the lines in your neighborhood to remove the discoloration and sediment in the distribution system.

Though rusty water may look and taste unpleasant, it is not generally a health concern. Iron in water is not a sign of harmful bacteria or lead, which are hazards. The limits set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for iron in drinking water are based on aesthetics (taste, odor, color), not safety concerns. The Village of Crestline meets all drinking water standards including those set for iron.

If you notice your water is discolored do not do laundry until the water runs clear, if you have already started doing laundry do not dry any clothing until the disturbance is over. When the water runs clear, re-wash the items before drying. Your local grocery carries “Iron Out” and other similar products that will remove discoloration from clothing if it is stained.

Most importantly, if you experience a rust color in your water, first make sure your hot water faucet is off and run the cold water for at least 5-10 minutes to see if it runs clear, if not please call the Village of Crestline at 419-683-3800, giving your location, so someone can respond and help you determine if you need a plumber or if flushing a hydrant near your home can help.

  1. The Water Department will have 100% of the utility bills printed and mailed by the 18th day of every month.
  2. All water and sewage bills not paid by the fifth of the month (meaning 4:30 PM on the fifth), shall be subject to a ten percent (10%) penalty. (Ordinance 925.05 (a)) Unless this day falls on a weekend or holiday the due date becomes the next business day.
  3. When bills are not paid by the twentieth (meaning 4:30 PM on the twentieth), service shall be disconnected, and fifty dollars ($50.00) charged to turn same on. (Ordinance 925.05 (a))
  4. Payment plans on utility accounts are available for accounts owing more than $250.00.  See requirements below:
  • A one-time service fee of $20.00 is charged for the payment plan.
  • Any bill under $250.00 is not eligible for a payment plan.
  • A balance of $250.00 to $499.00 will be divided into four (4) equal payments.
  • A balance of $500 or more will be divided in six (6) equal payments.

5. Payment extensions are available on utility accounts if sought in advance of the payment due date.  The Village offers a ten (10) day extension on accounts for matters of hardship and need.  Abuse of this policy is subject to future denial of payment extensions.  All payment extensions are subject to review prior to approval.
