Starting November 2, 2020, the state of Ohio, working with local Community Action Agencies, will help eligible Ohioans who are behind on rent, mortgage, and water and/or sewer utility bills catch up on past payments back to April 1, 2020 and provide additional assistance through December 30, 2020.

Ohioans will be able to apply for assistance through their local Community Action Agency starting November 2, 2020. A list of local Community Action Agencies can be found at the bottom of this page.

Ohio households with an annual income at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines will be eligible for assistance. Here is the annual income by household size.

For households with more than eight (8) members, add $8,960 for each additional member.

When applying for assistance, Ohioans will need to provide the following information:

  • Names of all household members
  • Date of Birth
  • Social Security Number
  • Current or Previous address
  • Copies of Social Security cards, or verification for each household member
  • Proof of income for all household members 18 years or older for a minimum of the past 30 days
    • For seasonal or self-employed individuals, please provide proof of income for 12 months
  • Any supporting documentation to demonstrate need
  • Hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic

Individuals that are currently unemployed will only need to provide 30 days of income for verification purposes.  Additionally, any federal unemployment stipend is excluded from determining a household’s benefit.

To receive Rental Assistance, they will also need to provide:

  • Eviction or past due rent notice. Notice should include total amount due (including fees)
  • If moving to a new location, justification for the move (i.e. currently homeless, living with another family and not sufficient space etc.)
  • Landlord contact information and lease agreement

To receive Mortgage Assistance, they will also need to provide:

  • Notice of late mortgage payment (including taxes and insurance)

To receive Utility Assistance, they will also need to provide:

  • Copy of utility bill demonstrating the account has been shut off, is in disconnect status or is past due

Water Shut-offs to Resume

Dear Village of Crestline Customer,

Per Governor DeWine’s order, utilities are permitted to resume normal operations of water services. This includes disconnections for non-payment.

The Village of Crestline will resume water service shut-offs on August 25, 2020.

In order to avoid being shut off, have your account paid in full by August 20, 2020.

We’ve established a call center to answer questions and address concerns about COVID-19. Avita’s Coronavirus Information Hotline is open 8:00am-6:00pm daily at 419-468-0800. Avita has nurses answering the hotline to talk to citizens and triage in case they need to go to the Emergency Room.   Avita has also started doing telehealth visits so people do not have to go out and sit in doctor’s offices, which is an option if they need to see their doctor for something else.

If the phone lines are not answered due to high call volume or after hours, the call will be forwarded to the Ohio Department of Health Information Hotline.

Guidance for Private Swimming Pools

When locating your private swimming pool, be sure to follow these requirements of the Crestline Property Maintenance Code:

Make sure the pool is located in the back yard or side yard. Do not place a private pool in the front yard.

The swimming pool shall be enclosed completely by a wall or fence constructed so as to prevent uncontrolled access. The fence or wall shall not be less than four (4’) feet in height and shall have a self-closing and self-latching gate. The self-latching device is to be a minimum of 54 inches above the bottom of the gate and the release mechanism shall be located on the pool side of the gate.

All lights for the pool shall be located so as to confine the direct beam to the parcel on which the pool is located.

The pool shall be located at least five (5′) feet from any property line.

All swimming pools require a permit prior to installation.

A private spa or hot tub with a lockable cover and garden ponds shall not be considered a “swimming pool” subject to the provisions of the property maintenance code.  

Crestline Electric Aggregation Program

The Village of Crestline has renewed the Electric Aggregation Program.

In 2003 the Village of Crestline voted to take advantage of the group buying power to purchase electricity from a retail electric generation supplier. The Village of Crestline has renewed the community’s electric aggregation program to obtain exclusive pricing on the electric generation portion of your electric bill.

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions:

– Do I need to do anything to join the program?

  Answer:  No, if they do nothing, they will automatically be placed into the program.  This is an “Opt-Out” Program, so they would only send the post card in, if they did not want to participate.

– Why am I getting this card, if I’m already in the program?

Answer:  Per the State of Ohio, an Opt-Out notice must be sent to all participants every 3 years to allow them an opportunity to leave the program, if they choose to. Supplemental opt out notices are also sent out periodically, to newly eligible customers or customers who have moved into the program territory.

– Is there a fee to join the program?

Answer: There is no fee to join.

– Has anything changed with the program?

Answer: No. The rate, supplier and term all remain the same.  This is simply information, as required by the State.

– What is the rate?

Answer: For residential customers the rate is 6% off the Price to Compare and for Small Business customers the rate is 4% off the Price to Compare.
